Front Door Upkeep and Maintenance

We have been in business for over twenty years. Throughout the many years of working with homeowners we have seen many trends come and go. Some homeowners want their wallpaper taken down, others want it up…you never know what to expect on the ever changing world of fads, fashions, and styles.

One of the things that is never a trend and or fad is the individual upkeep that you perform to your stained-front door. A lot of homeowners don’t realize that a front door is like maintaining your front yard and fertilizing it and protecting it once a year. Stained front doors need to be protected once a year!!

Have you been out lately? Texas weather is extreme!! We might have some months of mild weather…oh and how do we enjoy it!! Let’s face it…our weather is extreme!! It can be 18 degrees outside and going through a snow/ice storm and our recent record of 100+ temperatures, drought, with not even a chance of rain. Can you imagine what your door has undergone and going through right now?

The process to protect a door is a simple as spraying a bike or craft. There are different products as well as applications of the product. They are very good products that provide excellent attributes against our weather. Whether you like to spray and/or brush, there is a chance you will find what you are looking for. A simple sanding sponge through, across, and around the entire door and there you go…you are ready for application.

These products are amazing and will perform very well in our extreme climate, but it is very important to point out that no one will provide a year warranty to their product. Throughout our many years in business, we have seen doors go south in less than six months. Some doors are perfectly fine for six years, while others are directly exposed to our extreme conditions and will begin experiencing problems within a couple of months of application.

Try to do this process every year if you can, if not at least every two years. If weathering starts eating your door’s finish (stain), you might begin facing costly repairs from re-facing/resurfacing to total replacement cost that does not go well with in any budget. We are sole believers that mistakes can be avoided if the right information is provided. Please take a close look at your front door today and try to determine its current condition.

If you need any help, advice, or have any questions about your front door, feel free to contact us for a free evaluation and assessment. We would love to help out as we have throughout the years!!
