- Quartz - The most durable material option for kitchens. Unlike other natural stone, quartz is man-made, engineered in factories. - Granite - The most desired natural stone. Granite is heat & scratch resistant although not stain proof. Many choices of gloss and matte finishes. Expect of pay $60-$100 per square foot depending on the details and regional pricing.
Soap Stone - Very dense. Sealing not required but can be treated with mineral oil.
